Procedure

10% Pd/C (101 mg) was added to HOAc/12 0 N HCl solution (19:1, 31 ml) containing 6-6 (649 mg, 1.01 mmol) and the mixture hydrogenated at 60 PSI for 2.5 hr. Filtration and concentration gave a gum which was purified by flash chromatography (silica, 7:1.5:1.5 EtOH/NH4OH/H2O) to provide 6-7 as a colorless solid.
