The title compound was prepared essentially as in Example 1 by combining 5-(2-(nonafluorobutoxy)-2,2-difluoroethoxy)-pentyl bromide (6.9 g of 91% purity, 13.5 mmol, Example 33) with 5-nonyl-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)pyrimidine (4.0 g, 13.5 mmol). The resulting crude product was isolated essentially as described in Example 3 and purified by chromatography on silica gel, eluting with 5 vol. % ethyl acetate in hexane, recrystallization from ethanol followed by Kugelrohr distillation (240° C. at 0.4 torr) to provide a yield of 5.6 g.
