Procedure
0.3 g (4.7 mmol) of potassium hydroxide (dissolved in a little water) was added to a solution of 0.9 g (2.3 mmol) of 4-chloro-3-(4-chloro-3-[di-(methylsulfonyl)-amino]-phenyl)-5-difluoromethoxy-1-methyl-1H-pyrazole in 30 ml of methanol. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 18 hours and then concentrated. The residue was taken up in 1N hydrochloric acid and then extracted with ethyl acetate. Drying of the organic phase with magnesium sulfate followed by concentration gave 0.7 g of the target product.
