Cbz-ester 15-4 (200 mg, 0.33 mmol) was treated with 4 mL 30% HBr in HOAc for 2 h then concentrated and purified by flash chromatography (silica, 50:1:1 EtOH/NH4OH/H2O) providing 15-5 as a white solid.
