Reaction Steps

400 mg (1 mmol) of N-(4′-[1,3]dioxolan-2-yl-biphenyl-3-ylmethyl)-N-ethylbenzamide, 5 ml of methanol, 2 g of silica and a few drops of sulfuric acid are introduced into a round-bottomed flask. The mixture is stirred at room temperature for 24 hours. The reaction medium is poured into water and extracted with dichloromethane, and the organic phase is separated out after settling of the phases has taken place, dried over magnesium sulfate and evaporated. 320 mg (91%) of the desired product are obtained.
