1-(4-Chlorophenyl)piperazine (197 mg, 1.01 mmol) in diethyl ether (20 mL) was treated with an ethereal solution of 5-isocyanatoisoquinoline. The precipitate that formed was collected by filtration, washed with diethyl ether, and air-dried to provide the title compound. 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 9.29 (d, 1H, J=1.0 Hz), 8.83 (s, 1H), 8.49 (d, 1H, 6.1 Hz), 7.93 (d, 1H, J=7.8 Hz), 7.77 (m, 1H), 7.61-7.72 (m, 2H), 7.26-7.29 (m, 2H), 7.01-7.04 (m, 2H), 3.68 (m, 4H), 3.23 (m, 4H); MS (ESI+) m/z 367 (M+H).
