To a solution of the compound from Step 2 (R)-tert-butyl 3-(4-(5-(ethoxycarbonyl)-1-methyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)-N-(1-methyl-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-c]pyridin-7-yl)benzamido)piperidine-1-carboxylate (0.2 g, 0.34 mmol) in MeOH (10 mL) was added aqueous NaOH (2 N, 1.5 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 h. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure, and the pH was adjusted with 1N HCl until pH 4. The acidified mixture was extracted with EtOAc (3×10 mL). The combined organic layers were dried over Na2SO4, filtered, and the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to deliver the title compound (0.18 g) as yellow oil which was used in the next step without purification.
