A mixture of tert-butyl 4-(2-(4,5-dichloro-2-ethylphenylamino)acetyl)piperazine-1-carboxylate (120 mg, 0.288 mmol) in HCl/MeOH (2.86 M, 10 mL) was stirred at room temperature for 1 h. The mixture was concentrated in vacuo to afford the crude product (82 mg) as a yellow solid which was used directly in the next step without further purification.
