Ethyl 3-{[(5-bromo-3-methyl-1-benzothiophen-2-yl)sulfonyl]amino}benzoate (Intermediate 18) (42 mg, 0.093 mmol) was hydrolyzed with 1 M NaOH (1 mL) in EtOH (2 mL) at room temperature over night. The reaction mixture was acidified and extracted with EtOAc. The combined organic phases were washed with water and dried. Evaporation of the solvents gave 23 mg (58%) of the title compound. MS (ESI+) calcd for C16H12BrNO4S2 424.939112, found 424.939992.
