Using the procedure described in example 29, step 3, ethyl tert-butoxy-[4-(2,6-dimethyl-cyclohex-1-enyl)-2,5-dimethyl-thiophen-3-yl]-acetate (53b) (90 mg, 0.24 mmol) is converted, after purification by flash chromatography on silica gel (dichloromethane/methanol 95/5), to tert-butoxy-[4-(4,4-dimethyl-cyclohex-1-enyl)-2,5-dimethyl-thiophen-3-yl]-acetic acid (example 53) (21 mg, 0.06 mmol, 25%).
