Reaction Steps

A mixture of methyl(6-((2,6-dimethylpyridin-3-yl)methoxy)-1-benzofuran-3-yl)acetate (430 mg), 1N NaOH (5 mL), THF (5 mL) and MeOH (5 mL) was stirred at room temperature for 1 h. The mixture was washed with Et2O. Water and 1N HCl (5 mL) were added to the water layer to be pH=4. The precipitate was collected by filtration and washed with water and Et2O respectively to give crystals. The crystals were recrystallized from acetone-hexane to give the title compound.
