A 50-mL round-bottomed flask equipped with a magnetic stirrer was charged with 156a (60 mg, 0.088 mmol), NaBH4 (17 mg, 0.44 mmol), and methanol (10 mL). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 h. It was then quenched with water and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by reverse-phase prep-HPLC to afford 156 (15 mg, 25%). MS-ESI: [M+H]+ 683.5. 1H NMR (500 MHz, CDCl3) δ 8.67 (d, J=2.5 Hz, 1H), 8.48 (d, J=5.0 Hz, 1H), 8.02 (d, J=2.5 Hz, 1H), 7.87 (s, 1H), 7.84 (d, J=2.0 Hz, 1H), 7.37-7.35 (m, 2H), 6.81 (d, J=9.0 Hz, 1H), 4.99-4.59 (m, 6H), 4.45-4.32 (m, 2H), 4.12-4.03 (m, 2H), 3.85-3.73 (m, 2H), 3.71 (s, 3H), 3.19-3.16 (m, 1H), 2.91-2.89 (m, 1H), 2.75-2.69 (m, 2H), 2.57-2.47 (m, 5H), 1.97-1.76 (m, 5H), 0.89-0.87 (m, overlap, 6H).
