A solution of 250d (550 mg, 2.8 mmol) in methanol (20 mL) was added Raney Ni (about 600 mg). The reaction was charged with hydrogen gas (via balloon) and stirred for 2 h at room temperature. It was then filtered through a plug of CELITE® and the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to afford 250e as a yellow solid (400 mg, 86%), which was used directly in the next step without further purification. MS-ESI: [M+H]+ 167.3
