To a solution of 296d (1.7 g, 7.5 mmol) in ethanol (50 mL) was added Pd/C (10%, 800 mg). The reaction was charged with hydrogen gas (via balloon) and stirred at room temperature for 2 h. After reaction was complete, the mixture was filtered through a plug of CELITE®. The filtrate was concentrated reduced pressure to afford 296e as a yellow solid (1.2 g, 82%), which was used directly without further purification. MS-ESI: [M+H]+ 197.3
