A solution of 309a (300 mg, 1.25 mmol) in ethanol (20 mL) was added Pd/C (10%, 30 mg). The reaction was charged with hydrogen gas (via balloon) and stirred at room temperature for 1 h. After the reaction was complete, the mixture was filtered through a plug of CELITE®. The filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to afford 309b as a yellow solid (250 mg, 92%), which was used without further purification in the next step. MS-ESI: [M+H]+ 211.3
