Procedure
A mixture of 4-chloro-2-{4,4-dimethyl-9-oxo-7-thia-10-azatricyclo[6.4.0.02,6]dodeca-1(8),2(6)-dien-10-yl}pyridine-3-carbaldehyde 109a (1.2 g, 3.3 mmol), NaBH4 (228 mg, 6.0 mmol), and methanol (10 mL) was stirred at 0° C. for 0.5 h. Then the reaction mixture was quenched with water (10 mL) and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was extracted with dichloromethane (2×15 mL). The combined dichloromethane extract was concentrated under reduced pressure to afford 330a as a pale yellow solid (1.0 g, 84%). MS-ESI: [M+H]+ 362.9
