Procedure

As presented in the following reaction formula, anhydrous acetic acid (Ac2O; 1.7 mL) was added several times in a divided manner to a mixture of 4-chloro-2-fluoroaniline (2 g, 13.8 mmol) in acetic acid (2 mL) at room temperature (about 25° C.). The resulting reaction mixture was stirred for 2 hours. After the completion of reaction, the mixture was filtered to obtain a crude product, which was washed with hexane to obtain N-(4-chloro-2-fluorophenyl)acetamide (2.4 g, yield: 94%).
