5-Chloro-2-pyridin-3-yl-1H-indole (Example 87) is processed according to the method described in Example 140, using acetonitrile instead of dichloromethane, to give 5-chloro-2-pyridin-3-yl-1H-indole-3-carbonitrile. 1H NMR (400 MHz, MeOD) δ ppm 7.36 (dd, J=8.6, 2.0 Hz, 1H), 7.57 (d, J=8.6 Hz, 1H), 7.65-7.77 (m, 2H), 8.43 (dt, J=8.1, 2.0 Hz, 1H), 8.72 (d, J=4.8 Hz, 1H), 9.16 (s, 1H). HRMS (ESI) m/z 254.0495 [(M+H)+ calcd for C14H9ClN3: 254.0485].
