A mixture of 6-[4-(2,3-epoxypropoxy)-1-naphthyl]-4,5-dihydro-3(2H)-pyridazinone (10 g, 0.034 mole), methanol (100 ml) and isopropylamine (17.4 ml, 0.2 mole) was heated under reflux for one hour. Evaporation under reduced pressure gave an oil which was purified on a silica column with chloroform-methanol to give 6-[4-(2-hydroxy-3-isopropylaminopropoxy)-1-naphthyl]-4,5-dihydro-3(2H)-pyridazinone (9g, 75%, m.p. 131°-135° C.). The hydrochloride, crystallised from 2-propanol had m.p. 195°-197° C.
