When an equivalent quantity of L-methionyl-L-aspartyl-N1 -propyl-2-amino-2-methylpropionamide hydrochloride hydrate is substituted for the L-methionyl-L-aspartyl-D-alanine amide hydrochloride of Example 6, and the procedure detailed therein substantially repeated, there is obtained N-t-butoxycarbonyl-L-tryptophanyl-L-methionyl-L-aspartyl-N1 -propyl-2-amino-2-methylpropionamide hydrated with 2/3 mole of water per mole. Actual elemental analysis shows C: 55.82%; H: 7.21%; N: 12.37% and S: 4.72%. Theoretical elemental analysis is C: 55.79%; H: 7.22%; N: 12.20% and S: 4.66%.
