Procedure

A solution of 10 parts of 2,3-diphenylallyl chloride in 43.9 parts of benzene is treated with 20 parts of bis-trimethylsilylcytosine under a nitrogen atmosphere and then the reaction container is sealed and maintained at a temperature of 65° for 120 hours. The solid which forms is collected by filtration, washed with benzene and recrystallized from a 1:1 acetic acid-water mixture to yield 1-(2,3 -diphenylallyl)-4-amino-2-oxo-1,2-dihydro-pyrimidine. That product displays nuclear magnetic resonance maxima at about 293, 405, 425, 437, 453 and 461 Hertz and is represented structurally by the following formula ##STR8##
