4-Chloro-5-mesityl-7-methyl-N,N-dipropyl-7H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidin-2-amine (50 mg, 0.13 mmol) in aqueous sodium hydroxide (2M, 10 ml) was heated at reflux for 6 hours. The solution was cooled to room temperature and neutralized with acetic acid. The mixture was diluted with water (20 ml) and extracted with ethyl acetate (50 ml×3). The extracts were combined, washed with brine, dried over sodium sulfate and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by silica gel chromatography eluting with hexane/ethyl acetate (4:1) to give 39 mg (81%) of the title compound.
