The general methods described in Parts H and I of Example 1 were followed using 7-benzyloxy-2-ethoxymethyl-1-(2-methylpropyl)-1H-imidazo[4,5-c]quinoline (29.2 g, 78.2 mmol) in lieu of 7-benzyloxy-1-(2-methylpropyl)-2-propyl-1H-imidazo[4,5-c]quinoline. The crude product was triturated with acetonitrile, isolated by filtration, and dried for 18 hours in a vacuum oven at 68° C. to provide 16.3 g of 7-benzyloxy-2-ethoxymethyl-1-(2-methylpropyl)-1H-imidazo[4,5-c]quinolin-4-amine an off-white solid, mp 201.0-203.0° C.
