To a solution of 4-benzyl-3-[2-(5-hydroxy-4′-trifluoromethyl-biphenyl-3-yl)-4-methyl-pentanoyl]-oxazolidin-2-one (as prepared in Example 1, step (k))(0.400 g, 0.78 mmol) in acetonitrile (3.9 mL) was added 1-bromomethyl-4-fluoro-2-trifluoromethyl-benzene (0.181 mL, 1.17 mmol) and Cs2CO3 (0.508 g, 1.56 mmol). The resulting white suspension was stirred at room temperature for 1 h. The white solid was filtered off and the solvent was removed in vacuo to obtain relatively pure 4-benzyl-3-{2-[5-(4-fluoro-2-trifluoromethyl-benzyloxy)-4′-trifluoromethyl-biphenyl-3-yl]-4-methyl-pentanoyl}-oxazolidin-2-one.
