Reaction Steps
To a stirred solution of tert-butyl trans-2-(3-ethoxy-3-oxopropyl)-5-hydroxypiperidine-1-carboxylate (625 mg, 2.07 mmol, step 3 of Example 5) and triethylamine (252 mg, 2.49 mmol) in dichloromethane (9.0 mL) was added methanesulfonyl chloride (285 g, 2.49 mmol) at 0° C. The resulting mixture was stirred at 0° C. for 2 h and then stirred at room temperature for 20 h. The mixture was quenched with water (30 mL), extracted with dichloromethane (30 mL×4). The combined organic layer was dried over magnesium sulfate and concentrated under reduced pressure to give 790 mg (quant.) of the title compound as a yellow oil. The resulting residue was used for the next reaction without purification.
