To a stirred solution of tert-butyl (2R,4S)-4-azido-2-(3-ethoxy-3-oxopropyl)pyrrolidine-1-carboxylate (562 mg, 1.20 mmol, step 4 of Example 8) in ethanol (10 mL) was added 10 wt. % palladium on carbon (50 mg). The resulting mixture was stirred under hydrogen (4 atom) at room temperature for 3 h. The mixture was filtered through a pad of Celite and the filter cake was washed with ethanol. The combined filtrate was concentrated to give 352 mg (97%) of the title compound as a colorless oil.
