tert-Butyl {4-[(2R,3R)-3-({[2-(1,3-benzodioxol-5-yl)-5,5-dimethyl-1,3-dioxan-2-yl]methyl}thio)-1-(4-methylphenyl)-4-oxoazetidin-2-yl]phenoxy}acetate (Method 21) (0.21 g, 0.32 mmol) was dissolved in formic acid (10 mL) at room temperature and stirred for 30 minutes. The mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure (temperature<30° C.) and this crude oil was purified by flash-chromatography (heptane:acetone:formic acid 6:4:0.01) to afford the title compound.
