Reaction Steps
Thiazole, (850 mg, 10 mmol), methyl bromoacetate (1.52, mmol) and absolute ethanol (50 ml) were refluxed for 2 hours. On cooling, the salt separated and was recrystallized from absolute ethanol to give the title compound (1.59 g), m.p. 189-190° C. (dec).
