To a dry stirred solution of 22.1 parts of 2-methylamino-4-(2,2,2-trifluorethoxy)-6-methylpyrimidine in 250 parts of methylene chloride at ambient temperature was added 18.9 parts of 2-thiophenesulfonyl isocyanate. That mixture was stirred and refluxed for 2 hours. The methylene chloride was removed under reduced pressure, and the resulting solid was triturated with toluene to yield 19 parts of N-[N-[4-(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)-6-methylpyrimidin-2-yl]-N-methylaminocarbonyl]-2-thiophenesulfonamide.
