Reaction Steps
In the manner described in Example 13, treatment of 2-(4-carbethoxybutyl)cyclopent-1-one (Example 3) with acetic anhydride and p-toluenesulfonic acid monohydrate gives a yellow oil, b.p. 109°-110° C. (0.37mm).
