To 2-amino-1,3,4,6,7,11b-hexahydro-2H-benzo[a]quinolizine (0.436 g) stirred at room temperature in benzene (50 ml) was added phenyl isocyanate (0.290 g, 5% excess) in benzene (25 ml). After stirring for 18 hours, the title compound was filtered off as a white solid (0.621 g) which was converted in ethanolic hydrogen chloride to the hydrochloride (0.654 g), m.p. 210.1° C. C20H23N3O.HCl.H2O requires C, 63.90; H, 6.97; N, 11.18% Found: C, 63.72; H, 6.87; N, 11.10%.
