500 mg of palladium-on-charcoal (10%) were added to a solution of 15 g (81.4 mmol) of 1-(2-fluoro-6-methoxy-phenyl)-propan-1-ol in 200 ml of ethanol and the mixture was hydrogenated at room temperature for 10 hours. The catalyst was filtered off over Dicalite and the filtrate was concentrated in a vacuum. The crude product obtained was purified by column chromatography on silica gel (dichloromethane/hexane 1:2). There were obtained 10.9 g (73%) of 1-fluoro-3-methoxy-2-propyl-benzene as a pale yellow oil.
