Reaction Steps
Benzyloxycarbonyl chloride (0.9 g) was dropwise added to an aqueous solution (10 ml) of (R)-4-(1-aminoethyl)-3-nitrobenzoic acid hydrochloride (1 g) and sodium hydroxide (535 mg) at room temperature, and the mixture was stirred at the same temperature for 3 hours. Conc. hydrochloric acid was added to the reaction mixture to make the same acidic. The mixture was extracted with chloroform. The extract was washed with water, dried, and concentrated. The obtained residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (chloroform:methanol=10:1) to give 1.05 g of (R)-4-(1-benzyloxycarbonylaminoethyl)-3-nitrobenzoic acid.
