Procedure

A 25% hydrogen bromide-acetic acid solution (4 ml) was added to (R)-N-(1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridin-4-yl)-3-azido-4-(1-benzyloxycarbonylaminoethyl)benzamide (400 mg), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1.5 hours. After the reaction, the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The obtained crystals were recrystallized from ethanol-ethyl acetate to give 285 mg of (R)-(-)-N-(1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridin-4-yl)-4-(1-aminoethyl)-3-azidobenzamide dihydrobromide 1/2 hydrate having a melting point of 216-219° C. (dec.) as white crystals.
