Reaction Steps
10 g of 4-[2-(benzyloxycarbonyl)ethyl]-1-[(ethoxycarbonyl)methyl]-piperidine are hydrogenated in 150 ml of tetrahydrofuran for 4 hours at ambient temperature under a hydrogen pressure of 50 psi in the presence of 1.3 g of palladium on activated charcoal. The reaction mixture is evaporated down and crystallised from diethylether and a little acetone.
