6-(5-Isoquinolylsulfanyl)-5-nitro-2,3-dihydro-benzo[d][1,3]oxazole-2-one 250 mg (0.7 mmol) was dissolved in concentrated sulfuric acid 2.5 ml, Beckmann's reagent 5.0 ml (K2Cr2O7 1 g, H2SO4 1 ml, H2O 9 ml) was added dropwise, and the mixture was stirred for 6 hours at room temperature. The reaction solution was neutralized with 4N sodium hydroxide, and the resulting precipitates were collected and washed with water, and 6-(5-isoquinolylsulfonyl)-5-nitro-2,3-dihydro-benzo[d][1,3]oxazol-2-one 110 mg (39.1%) was obtained.
