Reaction Steps
25 g (0.11 mol) of 1-(2-acetamido-indan-5-yl)-1-ethanol are suspended in 280 ml of methylene chloride, and 15 g (0.12 mol) of thionyl chloride are added. A clear solution is formed. After 1 hour, this solution is neutralised by washing with a saturated solution of sodium bicarbonate. The desired reaction product is obtained after drying and evaporating.
