A solution of 1-(3-chlorobenzyl)-6-hydrazino-3-propyluracil (3.0 g, 9.6 mM) and methyl isothiocyanate (2.2 ml, 32 mM) in DMF (30 ml) was heated at 120° C. for 27 hours. To the solution was added 50% methanol (10 ml) and the mixture was cooled to give crystals. Recrystallization from DMF/methanol afforded colorless crystals (1.22 g, 36%), m.p. 263°-265° C.
