A solution of 6-hydrazino-3-propyl-1-(2-thienylmethyl)uracil (1.8 g, 6.4 mM) and methyl isothiocyanate (1.36 ml, 20 mM) in DMF (30 ml) was stirred at 60° C. for 5 hours and then at 110° C. for 12 hours. To the solution was added methanol (10 ml) and the mixture was cooled to give crystals. Recrystallization from DMF/methanol afforded colorless crystals (0.9 g, 44%), m.p. >300° C.
