A solution of 3-butyl-1-(4-chlorobenzyl)-6-hydrazinouracil (3.0 g, 9.3 mM) and methyl isothiocyanate (2.0 ml, 29 mM) in DMF (30 ml) was stirred at 120° C. for 20 hours. To the solution was added ethanol (20 ml) and the mixture was cooled to give crude crystals. Recrystallization from DMF/ethanol gave pale yellow crystals (1.91 g, 57%), m.p. 292°-294° C.
