A solution of 1-(2-benzyloxyethyl)-3-butyl-6-hydrazinouracil (2.1 g, 6.3 mM) and methyl isothiocyanate (1.36 ml, 20 mM) in DMF (20 ml) was stirred at 120° C. for 20 hours. To the solution was added 50% methanol (20 ml) and the mixture was cooled to give crystals. Recrystallization from DMF/methanol/water gave pale yellow crystals (0.94 g, 40%), m.p. 214°-216° C.
