Sodium ethoxide (1.4 mL, 3.55 mmol, 20% in ethanol) is added to a solution of 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl 2-chloro-6-(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)nicotinate (400 mg, 1.19 mmol, Step-1 of Amine-37) in tetrahydrofuran (15 mL) and stirred at room temperature for 1 hour. The reaction mixture is poured into water and extracted with ethyl acetate and dried over sodium sulfate and concentrated in vacuo. The residue is purified by column chromatography on silica gel eluting with n-Hexane/ethyl acetate (7:1) to give 305 mg (88% yield) of title compound as a white solid.
