In trifluoroacetic acid (10 mL) and water (1 mL) was dissolved 2,2-dimethyl-3-[(5-{4-[4-(trifluoromethyl)-1-{[2-(trimethylsilyl)ethoxy]methyl}-1H-imidazol-2-yl]-phenyl}pyridin-2-yl)oxy]propanoic acid (287 mg), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight. The residue obtained by concentrating the reaction mixture under reduced pressure was dissolved in acetic acid, and the mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure. The obtained solid residue was pulverized by adding ether, collected by filtration, washed with ether and dried to obtain 2,2-dimethyl-3-[(5-{4-[5-(trifluoromethyl)-1H-imidazol-2-yl]phenyl}pyridin-2-yl)oxy]propanoic acid (175 mg).
