Procedure

A 1M solution of BBr3 (6.57 mL) was added to a solution of EXAMPLE 44A (0.71 g) in dichloromethane (30 mL), and the reaction was stirred for 18 hours. The reaction was quenched by the slow addition of methanol, and the mixture was concentrated and chromatographed on silica gel using 10% methanol/ethyl acetate.
