| Reactant | Thionyl Chloride | HCID 24386 | — |
| Reactant | [2-(Phenylsulfanyl)-3-pyridinyl]methanol | HCID 4400286 | — |
| Solvent | Acetonitrile | HCID 6342 | — |
| Product | 3-Chloromethyl-2-phenylsulfanyl-pyridine | HCID 19261865 | — |
Reaction Steps
(2-Phenylsulfanyl-pyridin-3-yl)-methanol (20 mg, 0.09 mmol) obtained in Step B was dissolved in CH3CN (20 mL), and SOCl2(13 uL, 0.18 mmol) was added dropwise thereto at 0° C. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. After the termination of the reaction, the reactant was concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain the title compound, which was used in the next step without a separate purification process.
