Procedure
To a mixture of 2-{[(1-ethyl-4-methyl-1H-imidazol-5-yl)methyl]sulfanyl}-6-methylpyrimidin-4-ol (160 mg, 0.60 mmol) in MeOH (2 mL) was added 4 M HCl/dioxane (800 μL, 3.2 mmol). The solution was evaporated and dried in vacuo, affording the title compound (178 mg, 99% yield); 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6): δ 1.44 (t, 3H, J=6.7 Hz), 2.22 (s, 3H), 2.37 (s, 3H), 4.24 (m, 2H), 4.56 (s, 2H), 6.12 (s, 1H), 9.09 (s, 1H); M+266.
