To a microwave vial containing (E)-tert-butyl 3-(4-((2-(4-(difluoromethyl)phenyl)-6-methoxybenzo[b]thiophen-3-yl)oxy)phenyl)acrylate (50 mg, 0.098 mmol) in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (1.0 mL) was added thiophenol (0.015 mL, 0.147 mmol) followed by K2CO3 (14 mg, 0.098 mmol). The resulting mixture was subjected to microwave irradiation for 1 h at 200° C. after which time the reaction was quenched with brine and extracted with EtOAc. The combined organic layers were dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuo to give the crude material which was purified by column chromatography (SiO2, 0-30% EtOAc/Heptane) to afford (E)-tert-butyl 3-(4-((2-(4-(difluoromethyl)phenyl)-6-hydroxybenzo[b]thiophen-3-yl)oxy)phenyl)acrylate (30 mg, 0.061 mmol, 62% yield). LC/MS (m/z, M−H): 493.5
