1 M PBr3 in DCM (1.43 mL, 1.43 mmol) was added to 4-(3,6-dihydro-2H-pyran-4-yl)-3-(1-hydroxyethyl)-1H-isochromen-1-one (intermediate B18, 130 mg, 0.477 mmol) in DCM (2 mL) and stirred for 2 hrs at RT, then the reaction mixture was adsorbed on silica pad and straightforward purified on Biotage silica cartridge eluting with a gradient of hexane and AcOEt to give the title compound (94 mg, 58.7%) as an off white solid.
