Reaction Steps
A mixture of 4-(4-dimethylaminosulfonylbenzyl)-phenylamine (288 mg) and 2-chloroimidazoline sulfate (110 mg) in 2-propanol was heated under reflux for 16 hours. A dilute solution of potassium carbonate was poured into the mixture and extracted with dichloromethane (4×15 mL). Solvents were evaported to give 2-[4-(4-dimethylaminosulfonylbenzyl)-phenyl]amino-imidazoline as a solid (320 mg).
