Reaction Steps

2-(4-chloro-2-methyl-phenoxy)-5-nitropyridine (203 mg, 0.77 mmol) was dissolved in 95% ethanol (3 mL) and treated with 20% palladium hydroxide on carbon (50 mg). The reaction mixture was shaken in a hydrogen atmosphere (40 psi) for 1 hour. The solvent was filtered through celite and concentrated in vacuo. MS (m/z): 234/236 (M+H)+; C12H11N2OCl requires 234.7.
